why are zinc granules used in laboratory preperation

Granulated zinc reacts with most acids to release Hydrogen gas.
Granulated zinc gives more surface area for the acid to act, so hydrogen is formed faster.
Also, granulated zinc has copper as an impurity, which catalyses the reaction thats why it is used in laboratory.
