The tropical evergreen forests are not utilized commercially because:

1. It is difficult to exploit these forests because they are dense.

2. Different species grow in the same area and there is a thick undergrowth of creepers and shrubs.

3. Suitable transport facilities to travel deep into the forests are not available.

4.. If large scale commercial utilization of the forests is taken up the green cover will be lost permanently. These forests are perennially green and act as lungs for the Earth. They supply a lot of oxygen.

5. If these forests are cut down there will be massive soil erosion.

The tropical forests are known to distant variation in its natural vegetation and they have a great biodiversity.

The tropical forests 2/3rd of all the plant species and 1/2 of the animal species. However, these regions are being threatened in a critical way. This is because of man-made disasters like deforestation, overgrazing, denuding, soil degradation, desertification, etc.

So, steps have been taken by the government and other organizations to prevent deforestation and to promote forest management to protect the Tropical evergreen forests.
