Sometimes other gases are used that are inert. Argon and Krypton are very common. Without the gas to cool the filament, atoms of the filament will boil away shortening the life of the bulb. ... Nitrogen is used because it doesn't react with the hot filament...

argon and nitrogen are very unreactive gas they do not oxidised . so they are used to fill in the bulb so that that their filaments are not burn and bulb keep glowing.
NOTE;Argon is a noble gas.
