The wood pencil has been used for writing by NASA and Soviet spaceprograms from the start. It is simple with no moving parts, except for the sharpener. However, wood, graphite, and rubber (in the eraser) are all combustible and create dust.

I think that it's answer is if astronauts will start using pencil in space nd the nib of the pencil will broken down then it will hit on there body.And another one reason is pencil is made of wood nd graphite rod if the nib broken down then astronauts have bring the sharpenr will create dust in space...
