Why asymmetric stretching is higher than symmetric stretching?

The symmetric stretch is an easier deformation than the asymmetric stretch so the asymmetric stretch occurs at a higher wavenumber. The bending vibration is much easier than stretching so this occurs at a much lower wavenumber. Carbon dioxide also displays, 2 stretching and 1 bend vibration.
