why at Higher altitudes the amount of greenhouse gases gradually decreases ?

Because the temperature goes up with altitude, there is no convection. Greenhouse gases block thermal infrared radiation from the ground. Less radiation is emitted to space because the air blocking the radiation is colder than the ground. This makes the Earth surface to stay warmer.
