An atom is called electrically neutral particle of matter as it contains:
Neutrons having neutral charge.
protons having positive charge.
and
electrons having negative charge

now the neutrons charge is already neutral,protons positive and electrons negative , they both form neutral
and hence an atom is electrically neutral
