why atomic mass number is whole number?

atomic is not actually a whole number but while using it is rounded off to the nearest whole no.

atomic mass can be any whole no. except zero like of aluminium which is 26.98 but is rounded off to 27
in other words we can say atomic mass is always a positive integer
