The attitude of colonial government change after the revolt of 1857 as they feared that the press could cause another revolt as it was widely read by peapole and rebillious houghts might istigaye people to revolt against tje government Hence the british decided to clamp down on press for this purpose, they introduced press laws , modeled on the Irish Press laws. It gave government press laws and power to review the artivles written in newspapers. If an article was judged as seditious, the press was given a warning.
