Why axial bonds are longer than equatorial bonds in pcl5?

In PCl5 structure, 3 Cl atoms are in one plane which are bonded by equatorial bonds.
The other 2 Cl atoms are perpendicular to this plane and are bonded by axial bonds.
These Cl atoms get repelled by the Cl atoms in the equatorial plane and thus the axial bonds tend to be longer than usual.
Hope it helps!!
