There is no doubt that Bhagat Singh was and will always be the great freedom fighter but there is no way you compete between two great leaders i.e. Gandhi ji n him. They both served their country well and we Indians are proud of our freedom struggle.

To your question the direct answer is as following:

1. Area of influence: Gandhi ji was definitely more popular leader of Congress not in India but in foreign too.. but as far as Bhagat Singh was concerned he was associated with Hindustan socialist republic association which was mainly active in North India ( Punjab , Up etc).

2. Career duration: Gandhi ji spend their whole life for Independence struggle, fight for justice, poor, etc. And on the other hand Bhagat Singh has given his life to the country, but sorry to say still a short but effective career of freedom struggle.

3. Concerned Association: Congress at the time of Independence was no doubt was the most respected and widely popular party/association when we compare to HSRA. Simply history is written by winners. There are much more difference about there ideology, executive etc.. even Bhagat Singh had said that we can get their independence only by the methods of Gandhi ji.

But I does not mean that Bhagat Singh is no less than Gandhi ji,but they are great in their own way.. but if we put national holiday on every leaders death anniversary, then 365 days would not be enough for celebrating the greatness of our leaders. There are much more difference about there ideology, executive etc.. even Bhagat Singh had said that we can get their independence only by the methods of Gandhi ji.
