Bagging is done so as to prevent the unwanted pollens to contaminate the carpel that is already artificially pollinated by desired pollens .

Emasculation is a process of removal of anthers from the flowers using forceps. After emasculation, the emasculated flowers is covered with a bag of suitable size which is made up of butter paper to prevent the contamination of stigma of a flower with unwanted pollen grains.
