hey buddy !! here's your answer...

______________________________

➡️ phloem transports food formed by leaves to various parts of plant like stem and root ... since roots and stems can't synthesize their own food , phloem has to transport it downwards and upwards respectively.
hence phloem provides bidirectional translocation...

➡️ whereas if we take the case of xylem , it conducts water . water can only be absorbed by roots . roots are present at the bottom of plant , hence flow of water will be unidirectional, that is , upwards.

hope it helps !! ❤️✌️
