Bioplastic or biodegradable plastic are not used now because of several reasons:
1. Bioplastic takes years to be degraded, hence it's not easy to decompose the plastic. Moreover it requires high temperature and pressure to be degraded, hence not used.
2. On degradation it produces methane gas. Methane gas is a pollutant and a potential greenhouse gas. Hence this is harmful for the environment.
3. Bioplastic may clog the drains and may cause sewage disposal problems.
4. It is very difficult to recycle them.
