Our body cannot absorb ferric iron.It can only absorb ferrous iron. Iron is present in the haemoglobin, where haemoglobin carries oxygen molecules from air and water and leaves the oxygen.

The iron in your blood does not rustbecause the human body cannotabsorb ferric iron, only ferrous iron. ... As the iron present in thehaemoglobin
Rust consists of hydrated iron(111) oxide ,which is ferric iron having trivalent bonding
whereas ferrous is iron(11) divalent bonding compound
