Blood is red because of the presence of the compound named haemoglobin. The haemoglobin is a compound made up of Iron and it has a oxygen carrying capacity for the transport of oxygen, taken from heart to lungs or from the lungs to the body parts and vice versa for  all the cases. The Iron in haemoglobin combines with the oxygen that is inhaled from the atmosphere.

Haemoglobin can also combine with Carbon Monoxide the tendency to attach is 2000 times more than that of the oxygen, and this combination takes the place of the oxygen molecule and then the body starts to suffocate and signals the brain for more oxygen provision. The scenario can be seen in the cases of polluted cities, where the presence of carbon monoxide is much more than that of the places that are pollution free.

HEY MATE

HERE IS UR ANSWER

Each haemoglobin protein is made up subunits called hemes, which are what give blood its red color. More specifically, the hemes can bind iron molecules, and these iron molecules bind oxygen. The blood cells are red because of the interaction between iron and oxygen.
