Actually, it's because veins are further away from the heart.

Arteries carry blood from the heart to the tissues. The heart actively pumps blood. The veins carry blood in the opposite direction. The tissues do not pump the blood like the heart. That’s why arterial blood pressure is higher than venous blood pressure.
