As hill station is at high altitude , so the pressure is low . Thus boiling point of water reduces as boiling point of substance depends on pressure . So more energy or time is required to cook it .

Due to low pressure in the high altitude, the cooking becomes difficult.

Explanation:

  • The boiling point of water is directly proportional to the atmospheric pressure. As a result in hilly places due to high altitude the pressure of atmosphere decreases.
  • As a result the boiling point of water also decreases.as a result less amount of heat is applied to the food which is being cooked and hence it takes more time to get cooked.
  • As a result pressure cookers are often used in the hilly areas to cook faster.
