Boron halide does not exists as a diamer but it exists as a polymeric chain. This is because even after the formation of a diamer the valence does not get satisfied hence it tries to attain a stable valence shell.
Even after the formation of a polymeric chain the octet is not complete but it has 6e in its valence shell.
