Because they have to go to other places to study and after study for job. So they should know cooking to cook food for themselves.
I know that there are mess but home's food is the best food and if they know cooking they can make what they want to eat....

1) Reason- When there were no one at home and we are hungry at night and there is no one at home we should make our own food
2) Reason- If you are married and your wife out of the state and you are alone at home you should make your own food. That is why boys should learn to cook food in modern time.
