In vacuum Bromine diffuses better than in air.

Bromine molecules diffuse less as compared to other gases.  reason high molecular weight of Br.

In air, there are many other gases.  So molecules of Br hit and collide with them.  So speed of molecules reduces.  So their diffusion in air is less than in vacuum.

Vhabishya: But why molecules of Br. moves fast in vacuum? Why ?
kvnmurty: in Vacuum there is nothing to stop them.. they move fast. The mean distance travelled before a collision is larger... In air, there are other molecules N2, O2 etc.. So they collide more and speed reduces... the mean distance before collisions reduces...
kvnmurty: so the average speed reduces.... average rms speed is inversely proportional to the molecular mass..
