why bryophytes are known as amphibians of plants??​

The bryophyte sperm, which is antherozoids is flagellate and requires water to swim into the eggs. In other words, unlike other plants, Bryophytes plants involve water for reproduction they are called amphibians.

Bryophytes are the types of Cryptograms. They reproduce only by spore formation. They can survive on land but they need water for spore formation. Therefore, as they are terrestial as well as aquatic, they are called as amphibians of plantae kingdom.
