Budding refers to technique where two different varieties of plants grow as single plant. The Scion and rootstock are joined together, which develop into a single tree.

The technique holds importance as it can provide variety of flowers and hence fruits on single tree. Cross pollination favouring plants easily get pollinated.

Resistance against various abiotic factors is also provided through the technique. Damaged plants can also be regrown by the help of budding.
