Heya friend!!
A bulb filament is made up of tungsten because:

1. Tungsten has a high resistivity, so when current is passed through it, it gets heated up to that extent that it GLOWS to produce light.

2. Tungsten has high melting point (=3000°C) so even if much amount of heat is produced, it does not melt easily.

Answer:

Tungsten is used for making filament of an electric bulb due to the following reasons: Being an alloy it has a very high melting point. It has very high resistivity so it does not burn easily at room temperature. The lamp glows at high temperatures.
