electric bulbs are filled with inactive gases like nitrogen and argon because the bulb can't be filled with air as the filament of the bulb which is made up of tungsten will react with oxygen and the filament will burn....therefore the bulbs are filled with the inactive gases as it prevents evaporation of the filament and maimtains the pressure inside the bulb.
