Why butan-1-ol does not undergo cannizaro as well as aldol reaction

HELLO THERE!
The fact is that, aldehydes and ketones with alpha hydrogen undergoes Aldol condensation. On the other hand, aldehydes and ketones with no alpha hydrogen undergo Cannizzaro reaction.
However, butan-1-ol is an alcohol, it is neither aldehyde nor ketone. Hence, it undergoes neither of the above reactions.
If you oxidize butan-1-ol using mild oxidizing agents like PCC (Pyridinium chlorochromate), it is converted into Butanal (an aldehyde with alpha hydrogen), which undergoes Aldol condensation.
