A DESAPHALTING PROCESS IN WHICH A RESIDUAL OIL HAVING A VISCOSITY ABOVE ABOUT 2500 S.S.U. AT 210* F. IS ADMIXED WITH A DEASPHALTING AGENT CONSISTING ESSENTIALLY OF PROPANE AND BUTANE IN WHICH THE SAID BUTANE COMPRISES ABOUT 14% BY VOLUME OF THE DESAPHALTING AGENT.
