why cacl2 is used to clear the snow on the roads


Rajeev79: CaCl2 is used to clear thesnow at hill stations because it depresses the freezing point of ice . when CaCl2 is added - there is lowering of the freezing point of the salt water to -29o Celsius.

CaCl2 lowers the freezing point of ice and is hence used to clear the snow
