why can dust be remobed by shaking or beating a carpet

when we dust or beat a carpet we provide motion to the carpet which was earlier in rest. the dust present on it was also in rest. But as we provided motion to the carpet by beating, the carpet moves but the dust tries to maintain its inertia of rest. So the dust doesn't move with the carpet and falls down due to gravity.

the dyst are removed by shaking or beating a carpet because the dust particles are very light in weight they move from one place to another easily . so when we shake or beating carpet the particles removed very easily
