Fluorine cannot be prepared by electrolysis of aqueous solution of a fluoride because when we pass current through the aqueous solution of a fluoride, fluorine gas is produced. If fluorine reacts with water, it produces Hydrogen fluoride. If it is possible during electrolysis, then electrolysis will be stop soon that means the flow current in the electrolysis will stop because Hydrogen fluoride is bad conductor of electricity. Hydrogen fluoride is not only bad conductor of electricity, but also poisonous and corrosive compound or substance.
