Why can not government school celebrate religious festivals?

the government schools run under the government so , constitution provides us secularism . secularism refers to separation between state and religion . as if the government school start celebrating particular festival , the students from other castes or religion get hurted . so whenever there is a festival , the students of government schools enjoy a holiday.
