why can our elbow not move backwards

The joint of the ulna (bone of elbow) is such that it can only move forward. People are conditions where they can move it backwards due to some problem and it's very rare.

This is called ball and socket joint. ... (c) Our elbow cannot move backwards because the elbow has a hinge joint that allows movement in only one direction.
