Plants are autotrophic means they can prepare there food by themselves. This is due to chlorophyll content ; Plants (any species which have chlorophyll are able to prepare their own food).

Animals dont have chlorophyll ; that's why they can't prepare their food by own!

Hey Mate

Here is your answer

=> It's an very interesting question to which the answer is simple.

=> Animals cannot make food from carbon dioxide , water and sunlight like plants due to the following reasons :

✓ Plants have a special feature which lacks in the animals.

✓ The feature is that the plants have a green pigment called as the chloroplast which provides chlorophyll which traps the sunlight and helps to make food through the process of photosynthesis .

✓ But this feature is not available in animals and thus they cannot be the producers and become the consumer .

Hope it helps

Cheers!!
