Why can't potassium bisulphite cannot be used as a food preservative for colored food?

⭕This is not used for preserving coloured food materials because Sulphur dioxide produced from this chemical is a bleaching powder.

Chemical reactions lead to formation of a bleaching powder, sulphur dioxide and consumption of it is very harmful.
