hey dear ,

Clay soils are made up of tiny, pancake-shaped particles that compact down and flatten against each other. They drain poorly, and water tends to pool on top of them in heavy rain. When they dry out, they're hard as bricks. Plants need air around their roots, and clay soil lacks the air spaces between particles that plants need to survive. Without oxygen, pathogenic bacteria and fungi attack the roots of plants.
