Mostly because they tend to not allow any dissenting opinion to exist, much less allow those parties to make changes if they gain popular support.
It’s not democracy if there is no mechanism for the free will of the people to even be heard, much less implemented.
Communist systems work by filtering the population by ideology before allowing the pre-approved people to voice their pre-approved opinions.
