why can't transformer be used to step up d.c.voltage?​

because a transformer can convert only a.c of high voltage to a.c. if low voltage

Hey mate here is ur answer

Transformer works on the principle of electromagnetic induction which means that induce current should be produced in case of DC current no induced EMF is produced but in AC supply of current current always tends to change its polarity hence induced EMF is produced in it therefore we can't use Step Up transformer to connect a DC source
