why can't we clearly see through the fog ?name the phenomenon?

It is due to scattering of light thesmall water droplet present in the air block the light from reaching to our eye hence we can only see through small distances.

When light falls on fog then scattering takes place so the particles of fog become visible. Visible lights can't pass through fog.
