Since the sun is so bright, it contrasts with the brightness of the stars during the day. The glare from the sun, makes it impossible to see the stars. I mean, you can't look at the sun. But when it is night, you can look at the moon! Hence, the stars are only visible to the plain eye during the night time.

During day time the light from the sun is more powerful. So we can't see the stars. Sun is the nearest star to the Earth and others are too long. So,during day time light from the sun is more virulent..
