why can't we use petroleum or crude oil directly as a fuel. justify your answer.

Could crude oil be used directly if only we had the right kinds of engines and boilers? The answer is no, because each crude oil is very different and made up of a large number of hydrocarbon. Hydrocarbons are the principal constituents of crude oil, natural gas and petroleum products.

No, because each crude oil is very different and made up of a large number of hydrocarbon. Hydrocarbon is the principal constituent of this fossil fuels. It must be refined to manufacture finished products such as gasoline and heating oil. As in the nature it occurs in impurities which needs for some process of purification. ( That is: distillation ).
