Why can the sun be seen overhead in Chennai twice a year ?

Chennai is Midway between the equator and Tropic of Cancer . The sun is exactly overhead the equator at the equinox and then it starts moving gradually north towards the tropic of cancer passing through Chennai , it is exactly overhead at the tropic of cancer on June 21 st then it starts moving southwards towards tropic of capricorn passing through chennai again in the same year and is exactly overhead the tropic of Capricorn on sep 22nd
