why can we not make a tumbler out of a piece of cloth to hold water, give reasons with accurate answer

We cannot make a tumbler out of a piece of cloth.This is so because water seeps through cloth as result of which all the water will get drained.The water seeps through the spaces between the cloth's fibres.
