Solution:

x²-4 = 0 is a quadratic equation.

So, it has two solutions.

x²-4 = 0

=> x² = 4

=> x = ±√4

=> x = ±√2²

=> x = ± 2

Therefore,

x = 2 or x = -2

Or

x²-4 = 0

=> x² - 2² = 0

=> (x+2)(x-2) =0

=> x+2 = 0 or x-2 = 0

=> x = -2 or x = 2
