2Zn + 2HCl = 2ZnCL + H2

Zinc displace hydrogen from dilute hydrochloric acid because zinc is more reactive than hydrogen and the reaction takes place by replacing a low reactive element by a high reactive element.

HCl+Zn-ZnCl2 +H2

where hydrogen is liberated.
