✏ Answer

Fish also need oxygen to live, but their lungs are not designed to extract oxygen from the air. Instead, by passing the water through their specialized organs (called gills), they can remove the oxygen and eliminate waste gases. ... They can't get enough oxygen on land, causing them to suffocate.

Explanation

Fish is having the system for breathing as gill slits which cannot extract free oxygen from the atmosphere and hence the fish or cannot get oxygen when they are in land. While when they are in water they extract the oxygen from the water through their mechanism of gills and hence can breadth while under the water.
