HIV virus are not easily detected. This is because the virus are that organisms that are on the border line of living and non living and are not identified till they get attached to a host. So this is the reason why our immune system is not able to identify HIV virus and is not able to fight against it and when it identifies it is too late as the virus has already damage our some body parts severely.

hope this helps you...

(1) The T- cells of immune system are inactivated ---->HIV viruses are able to replicate in these T-cells and paralyse the adaptive immune system.

(2) The binding capacity of Major Histocompatable Complex molecules to Viral peptides is lost:--->Because of this -->T-Cell Receptors unable to recognize the these major histocompatability complex ---peptide complex .
(3) HIV is able to hide from anti-HIV antibodies by expressing non immunogenic glycons on key antibody epitopes.

Because of the above mentioned changes in immune system,
The HIV is able to cross the barrier of our defense system and our immunity is lost not only to fight against the AIDS but also to fight against other invader microbes.

This is what I am able to explain somewhat, hope it helps.
