Why cant we do the experiment with any land plant?

There are many reasons for that we can't do experiments with the land plants but according to my views it is for that the trees and plants are decreasing day by day and the pollution in the environment is increasing at a very fast rate. As we know trees and plants cleans the air for us, but if we will do experiment with that plant it is sure that the plant will die and no more it will clean air for us.
Like this if we started doing experiments with plants then all the plants will die and we would not be able to live because of pollution.
