Why cant we use galvanometer directly to measure current

Since galvanometer shows deflection only if current is passed through it but doesn't show the exact value of current. Ammeter is used to do so

galvanometer is used to measure the direction of the current and is not used to measure current , it deflects in that direction

ammeter is used to measure current , it should be placed in series and ammeter should be of very less resistance in order to measure current
