Why capital G is a scalar quantity and small g is a vector quantity?

Capital (G) is a scalar quantity.

‘G’ is constant whereas ‘g’ is variable. At poles ‘g’ never changes but at equator it may vary . ‘g’ may vary due to its shape, rotation, etc...
