Answer:

Srinagar is the summer capital, and Jammu is the winter capital. ... But in winters Srinagar becomes geographically challenging due to the blockage of National Highways and landslides. Thus every year the capital is shifted to Jammu to ensure the trade and business do not suffer.

Explanation:

This practice was started by Dogra king more than a century ago to escape the harsh winter of Srinagar.

Srinagar which is located nearly in the middle of the populated areas of Jammu & Kashmir is the most strategic place to control all the politics and functional working of the state. But in winters Srinagar becomes geographically challenging due to the blockage of National Highways and landslides. Thus every year the capital is shifted to Jammu to ensure the trade and business do not suffer.
